A very quick acknowledgement of influences.
This game is very much a remix; I'm sure most of you worked that out, but I'm always nervous that someone will yell 'hey, you didn't invent X!'.
The central conceit is borrowed from China Miéville's The City & The City, which I definitely recommend reading.
The framing, of course, is Star Trek (the original series) - in particular, 'social issue' episodes, in which James Tiberius resolved a situation (in 45 minutes or less) that had strange parallels to a pressing Earth/American issue (for the purposes of ST:TOS, these are essentially the same thing).
These episodes were always heartfelt and well-meaning, though they sometimes suffered from a sort of clunkiness - after all, they were usually written by people who were basically insulated from the issue under discussion. This is also the case with this game.
Ok, beam me up!
Ben.
